4 WordPress Plugins for Faster Google Fonts

Many of us have used Google fonts in our projects and our sites. Hosting Google fonts locally can improve performance by reducing the number of external HTTP requests and DNS lookups and increased control over caching and loading. Thanks to these 4 WordPress plugins, you can host Google fonts locally or load them faster to improve performance:

Local Google Fonts: this plugin lets you host Google fonts on your server. It also makes your website GDPR complaint.

Custom Fonts: another plugin that lets you host your fonts locally. It lets you upload your own fonts or choose from Google. Since you can self-host fonts, privacy concerns are minimized.

OMGF: this plugin uses Google Fonts API to cache the fonts of your team and minimize DNS requests. It also lets you unload fonts that you are not using. The pro version lets you replace font families with system fonts.

Easy Fonts: another plugin for hosting Google fonts locally. It is designed to work with most themes and pagebuilder frameworks, including Divi and WPBakery. You can choose to process @import and @font-face statements.

Stay tuned as we will cover more local Google font plugins here in the future.
